HOUR / OUR / YOUR CARDS
The Community Energy Bank ‘Hour / Our / Your’ cards are designed much like baseball cards with a picture and description of a community member on the front, and a listing of the person’s life-skill sets, knowledge and capabilities on the back. These cards are used as a medium of exchange between community members.
In our community we needed a way to exchange people’s time spent teaching a concept or skill with a work effort in direct support of that concept or skill. If community members are willing to devote some of their time to helping the person who is teaching co-create a project or vision, while at the same time learning themselves, then they can be rewarded for the time that they spend on the effort through the exchange of ‘Hour / Our / Your’ cards.
The person teaching the course or giving the workshop will almost always have projects to be developed in that area and will be looking for people to co-create with. This is where the exchange of hours comes in. Normally the person who is teaching the skill or concept will exchange one hour of their time spent teaching for more than one hour of the other person’s time who is learning. This exchange is to be determined by each party together at the time of the energy exchange.
This also has the benefit of being an in-kind exchange with no monetary flow, thus no tax burden. A novice needs to spend those hours in practice to really learn the material so everyone benefits.

Once people have come together in a mentor-intern setting for the purpose of learning a life-skill then co-collaboration can happen more effortlessly. Community members can develop their life-skills by working on projects or activities together based on the concept or skill they have learned.
Once a community member achieves mastery in a particular life-skill by working on and completing a demonstration project, then the back of their ‘Hour / Our / Your’ card will reflect this new mastery and therefore their time will be ‘worth’ more compared with a novice in that life-skill or concept.
Eventually the community member who has become a master of something can then go on and teach a workshop or class themselves. Also, the value of the person’s hours increases as their mastery of the life-skill or concept increases. As the community develops people exchange their ‘Hour / Our / Your’ cards with each other, and depending on the level of mastery they have reached, this is how the value of the exchange will be determined.
A person who needs help co-creating a project or idea is able to develop a skilled workforce who can create the model and/or template to then be later replicated at another location or in another community. Thus the ripple effect of our collective consciousness can be felt.
The ‘Hour / Our / Your’ cards are a way for community members and people to exchange work and time on a fair basis. As life-skills are developed through work on a particular project or vision a person’s knowledge base is increased.
Also, the ‘Hour / Our / Your’ cards provide data and information that allows people to be grouped into collective ‘pods’. The pods are organized around people’s life-skills, knowledge, interests and abilities. The pods provide a means by which people who share similar life skills can co-create more easily and effortlessly. The pods also organize into teams of people with different skills who can achieve success very rapidly.
